Moving swiftly on...
The group met with Jared to review our progress on the project, of which we were set clear targets to have achieved by the next time we met which include:
- what caused the post apocalyptic city?
- decide on a narrative
- define the style of the piece
- have a location plan
We have decided to stick to the adopted style of artist John Virtue as the group believe it will best enhance the theme of our piece.
In order to answer the rest of our questions AND to start collecting a catalogue of images, the group have decided to take a trip to London tomorrow. Cameras and sketch books at dawn please. I was browsing the BBC website and discovered a new exhibition on at the Tate Modern which might prove beneficial for our research. French artist Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster has created her vision of a post apocalyptic London in the Tate's Turbine Hall. From reading the page, there's a theme of spiders and a whole host of bunk beds, so it sounds crazy but interesting and could be just the inspiration we need for the project. We've agreed to begin tomorrows trip at the Tate and then take a tour of the city.

It was by happy mistake I found that article on the BBC's web-page, but there's nothing more satisfying then a happy mistake. Im looking forward to seeing another artists interpretation of our chosen theme and the fact its an actual installation will get us all thinking about the positioning of items/objects and the general layout of our environment. It will also give us a sense of interaction by being part of the environment, and i aim to note down my thoughts whilst i walking around. Looking at images on the internet is all well and good, but being part of an experience will hopefully open my mind more to new possibilities. We shall see what tomorrow brings.
